The selection of Koko and Cici Jakarta 2013 (Chinese-Indonesian pageants) has been scheduled to be held on October 19-20, at the office of West Jakarta Mayor. This initial selection is to encompass 50 participants of Koko and Cici candidates who will qualify for the semifinals.
Participants will demonstrate their talents as well as language and public speaking skills in the front of the jury. The jury is divided in some sectors, namely tourism, fashion and public speaking, Tionghoa culture, psychology, foreign languages, Jakarta Koko Cici Association, as well as West Jakarta Deputy Mayor.
Ernawati Sugondo, an initiator of Koko Cici Jakarta said Mandarin ability will be an added value for each participant. “Mandarin is very useful. As some time ago, Koko Cici winners were sent to China to promote Jakarta tourism together with Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department. Moreover, they can communicate in Mandarin,” expressed Ernawati, who is also a jury of Tionghoa culture and Mandarin, Wednesday (10/16).
According to the schedule, the jury will select 16 pairs of Koko Cici candidates and will undergo the quarantine stage on October 22 to November 7, 2013. While for its final will be held at Ciputra Hotel’s Ballroom, which falls on November 8, 2013.
As for the information, Jakarta Koko Cici was first held in 2002 in order to restore the image of Indonesia, especially Jakarta City in the eyes of the world on May 1998. The idea was initiated by Sarimun Hadisaputra as West Jakarta Mayor.
