Jakarta Provincial Government is going to promote Jakarta tourism in three big cities in China on June 25 until July 1, 2013. Tens of Jakarta tourism entrepreneurs will hold a business meeting with hundreds of tourism stakeholders in Guangzhou, Harbin and Hongzhou cities. It aims to introduce Jakarta tourism and attract Chinese tourists.
“Big cities in China are a potential market for Jakarta tourism. The roadshow of Enjoy Jakarta to Guangzhou, Harbin and Hangzhou cities are hoped able to further encourage the growth of Chinese tourist visits to Jakarta whose numbers continue to rise in the last five years,” said Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budiman, Monday (6/25).
“Through such roadshow, we would also inform Jakarta condition to citizens in foreign countries, either for travel or business,” he continued.
Based on the data of Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the amount of Chinese tourist in Jakarta is increasing significantly in last 5 years. In 2008 and 2009, its amount were 89,009 and increased by 107,966 in 2010 and 2011. Then it increased again became 159,786 and 180,311 people.
In 2012, such amount is increasing again or reaching 217,241 people, or slightly higher compared to Japan and Singapore tourists, which are 196,232 and 178, 969 in the same period. “Through Enjoy Jakarta roadshow, we hope Chinese tourist in Jakarta can be increased or reach 10 percent,” he expected.
The total amount of foreign tourist in Jakarta last year were 2,121,861 people. As many as 217,241 people are Chinese tourists. Thus China has occupied the second position of total Pacific Asia tourist in Jakarta.
However Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department believes 10 percent to rise Chinese tourists could be achieved. Moreover the frequency of flights and the average amount of passengers from some cities in China to Indonesia is recoded each week.
Thus far, the frequency of flights each week from Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Xiaman to Indonesia is reaching 90 flights or 14,580 passengers. Over 51 out of 90 flights to Jakarta is approximately 8,262 people.
“This is an indication that Chinese market has chance and potential to continue to be tilled. With international standard facilities, Jakarta is ready to receive and serve Chinese tourist, either for business or travel,” he told.
For information, Enjoy Jakarta roadshow in Guangzhou will take place on June 25, 2013 at Crown Plaza Hotel, Harbin Post Hotel on June 28, 2013, and JW Marriot Hangzhou on July 1, 2013. “Around 120 buyers of each city planned to attend in the event. They also assessed that the business forum could provide an opportunity of mutual benefit,” informed Budiman.
Eventually a number of Jakarta art and culture attractions will also enliven the event of Enjoy Jakarta. “We deliberately hold the event in mid-June because of the arts and culture activities will be held in Jakarta in the foreseeable future, coinciding with Jakarta’s 486th anniversary. The activity itself would be expected to attract Chinese tourists’ enthusiast visiting Jakarta. Moreover, Jakarta also has a historical and cultural with China,” added Head of Promotion Section for Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia.
