Starting next year, Jakartans will be spoiled with entertainment event held on every weekend. Yes, Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department is going to hold festival or exhibition on every Saturday and Sunday.
“It is predicted that hundreds of events will be held in Jakarta for a year on every Saturday and Sunday,” stated Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, Wednesday (11/27).
To support the smoothness of this program, various development efforts are currently being carried out. For instance is the construction of mini theater in Monas Monument, opera building in Riario Dam, and performance stage in Setu Babakan. All of the events will be held at the international level but populist.
Besides to entertain Jakartans, Budhiman continued, this program also aims to boost tourist visit to Jakarta. This is because all this time, majority of tourists coming to Jakarta were only making Jakarta as a transit before heading to other destination.
Last but not least, this folk party agenda is also to fulfill the wish of Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo who wants to make Jakarta as a city that is alive with social interactions.
“Thus, the development of Jakarta to be more humane would be realized. All this time, the development in the capital city was only focused to physical construction, while the non-material aspect was being ruled out,” he finished.
Time: 30 November until 1 December 2013, Jakarta International Kite Festival: Held annually, this festival, which is organised jointly by the Jakarta Tourism Office and the Le Gong Kite Society, showcases local and international kites. Competitions and events are held in the Ancol area in north Jakarta.
After the Kirab Budaya event some time ago, soon Jakartans will be presented again with an art-themed event called the Kampong Art Festival. As many as 200 participants incorporated in 20 communities will enliven the event which to be held on Saturday (11/23).
Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, explained that Kampong Art Festival is a carnival participated by children and teenagers. For the very first held in Jakarta, the festival will have a theme of archipelago legend. The routes of the carnival will be started from the National Gallery then passing Tani Monument until Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini, Central Jakarta. The festival will be held from 3 PM until 5.30 PM.
“This carnival is held as a form of Kampong Art Festival that has the theme of Jakarta Kids Art Carnival. We hope this activity could be a routine agenda held annually,” he stated, Thursday (11/21).
According to Budhiman, this carnival is a cooperation held between Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department and Anak Akar Studio. Besides communities from Jakarta, there are also other communities from West Java, Central Java, and East Java to be participated in this event.
“This event aims to realize comfortable space for children to express their creative abilities, as well as to bring to life an open arts and cultures space for children in Jakarta,” he uttered.
During the Kampong Art Festival is held, Budhiman added, there will be no road closure done. For the festival’s visitors, they could park their vehicles in the yard of buildings around the carnival location.
“Road closure is deliberately not applied because we actually want to invite all residents to appreciate the creativities of children and teenagers through the carnival,” he finished.
